Magna-Fx® Cannulated Screw Fixation System

Zimmer offers a full range of cannulated screws. Within this family, the 7.0mm diameter Magna-Fx Cannulated Screw is designed specifically to maintain a mechanical environment conducive to healing in weight earning applications.

16mm Partially Threaded Screwsmagna_fx1

The 16mm thread length allows for the use of a lag screw technique for interfragmentary compression involving narrow fragments.

32mm Partially Threaded Screws

When the thickness of the bone fragment will accommodate a screw with an increased thread length, the 32mm screw provides superior holding power.

Fully Threaded Screws

When a direct reduction technique or fixation alone is desired, holding power can be optimized by using a fully threaded screw.

Versatile-Indications for High-Strength cancellous Fixation

Indications for Magna-Fx Cannulated Screws include fractures of the intracapsular hip, femoral condyles, tibial condyles, ankle, acetabulum, pelvis, and in the treatment of sipped capital femoral epiphysis. It may also be used in other areas where accurate placement of a strong cancellous screw is required.

Efficient-A Full-Range of Benefits

The Magna-Fx Cannulated Screw Fixation System is efficient in the operating room, providing implants that are designed for easy installation and reproducible results.

Magna-Fx Screws self-ream and self-tap in appropriate bone stock-allowing for direct placement over the Guide Pin, without separate reaming and tapping operations.

Magna-Fx threads are reverse cutting to facilitate removal and decrease the chance of microfracture. The advantage of a cannulated screw is intensified with the Magna-Fx Screw because the large cannulation accommodates a larger, more rigid 3.2mm Guide Pin.

Magna-Fx Cannulated Screws and Guide Pins are supplied sterile.

The Magna-Fx Parallel Placement Guide permits easy and accurate placement of parallel guide pins in femoral neck fractures of other areas where compression through controlled impaction is desired.

The Magna-Fx Percutaneous Guide System permits all preparation and placement steps to be performed with a minimally invasive technique.

Magna-Fx Cannulated Screws and instruments are supplied in autoclavable plastic cases. Imprints identify the components to assist the staff in maintaining efficient intraoperative retrieval and postoperative restocking.

Effective-System Solutions

Magna-Fx Cannulated Screws are part of the Zimmer integrated system approach to the treatment of complex fractures. Magna-Fx Cannulated Screws have been designed to work in tandem with the following Zimmer trauma products:

Versa-Fx® Femoral Fixation System
Free-Lock® Femoral Fixation System
Versa-Fx Supracondylar Plates
Free-Lock Supracondylar Plates
ECT® Internal Fracture Fixation, T- and L-Buttress Plates

A Magna-Fx screw used in conjunction with Versa-Fx Compression Hip Screws or Free-Lock Compression Hip Screws to capture medial buttress fragments.

A Magna-Fx Screw used in conjunction with Versa-Fx Supracondylar Plate or a Free-Lock Supracondylar Plate for distal fragment fixation.

Magna-Fx Screws in the proximal holes of ECT T- and L-Buttress Plates to strengthen the support of depressed condylar surfaces.

Femoral unicondylar fracture fixation is achieved by using partially threaded Magna-Fx Screws with washers.

The use of fully threaded Magna-Fx Screws is slipped capital femoral epiphysis facilitates screw removal.
